University College Of Arts Royal Holloway
University of London -Employment: -Personal Information: I spent last year developing my writing skills at University College Falmouth. I'm now looking to find a position where I can put these skills to use. I've completed commissions for a number of clients, including: articles for Bonds the Jewellers website, a promotional booklet for Slightly Different design, press releases and editorial work on a fund raising book for the NSPCC, articles for the Bristol Advertiser, Movie Magic and Vitality Matters magazines, and a promotional leaflet for University College Falmouth itself. I currently write for the Documentary Film Group and 6 Degrees Film and have just finished my first novel with the help of fantasy author Louise Cooper. I was a section editor on the course website, www.bloc-online.com, where I edited the New Writing section and later, the About Writing section. The website went onto become runner-up in the Best Student Website category in The Guardian Student Media Awards. I've also spent time working at the offices of Loaded magazine on a two week work placement and spent a day working for the editorial team at Autotrader.co.uk. My Media Arts degree has provided me with a wide-ranging critical and historical knowledge of both television and film. I've taken part in a great deal of student filmmaking and got a lot of experience working with cameras and sound equipment, as well as spending time in the TV and editing studios. My major was in screenwriting, something I continued at Falmouth College , where I had the chance to make a short film that I had scripted. Prior to starting the MA, I was dropped in the deep end as the manager of the new Oxfam bookstore at Staffordshire University . I was the only paid member of staff and had to recruit a team of volunteers to help me with all the aspects of running and promoting the store. Because of my time working in retail, I've naturally had to develop strong and patient people skills.
