NovelThe first two chapters of my comic fantasy Novel "Once Upon a Financial Time" are available to read here along with a complete synopsis. All being well the novel should be finished by the end of the year. Once Upon a Financial Time takes place in Merchant & Sons Company. Tobias, the workaholic President of the company, is expecting his first child. This angers his nephew Godric who will now be second in line for the presidency. He goes to kill the mother and child the day he is born. The mother is killed but he cannot bring himself to kill the baby. He orders one of his henchmen to do if for him, but he cannot do it either. He allows the child to float to safety on the river in a boxfile. The child is found and adopted by a farmer and his wife who name him Frederic and bring him up as there own. The only clue to his heritage is a key on a necklace that his mother used to wear around her neck. Frederic now wears it as a good luck charm. Frederic shows an early talent for business and is enrolled in the business school but is hated for his low status by his fellow students and his teachers. But when he helps apprehend a group or young rebels The ‘Anti-Oppression League’ who are vandalising school property, he get noticed by Vice-President Godric who hires him as his assistant. This goes
well until Frederic meets Matilda, who lives outside the company as
one
of the unemployed. They meet in secret until she disappears. Frederic
is then caught leaving the company by the Anti-oppression League who
are
keen to get revenge. He is forced to help them perform another act of
vandalism that humiliates Godric on the day he succeeds to the Presidency.
Frederic gets blamed. Godric is furious. He beats Frederic in front
of
the crowd, tear his shirt and reveals the key. Godric panics
and
his him imprisoned. But Frederic escapes and hides in one of Godric’s
offices. Godric is having a meeting with one of his business rivals,
Mr Gregor.
He discovers that Matilda is in fact Gregor’s daughter, who is
negotiating with Godric to marry her and replace many of the workers
with machines.
Godric lays a trap for Frederic and he is captured. He blackmails Matilda into marrying him or he will be killed. Frederic is rescued by the rebels and leads a full-scale rebellion against Godric. Godric is finally defeated and Frederic succeeds to the Presidency and marries Matilda.
